ส่วนหนึ่งคงเป็นเพราะกระแสการบูมของ Twitter แต่อีกส่วนหนึ่งคือ คนที่เล่น Facebook ในช่วงบูมๆ เริ่มมีอายุมากขึ้น ทำให้ age structure รวมของ Facebook สูงขึ้นตามไปด้วย

- 1 in 4 registered users tweets in any given month.
- Once a user has tweeted once, there is a 65% chance that they will tweet again. After that second tweet, however, the chance of a third tweet goes up to 81%.
- If someone is still tweeting in their second week as a user, it is extremely likely that they will remain on Twitter as a long-term user.
- Users who joined in more recent months are less likely to stop using the service and more likely to tweet more often than users from the past.

วิเคราะห์การใช้งาน Social Network ตามกลุ่มอายุ-เหตุผลที่ใช้
งานวิจัยจากบริษัท Anderson Analytics วิเคราะห์การใช้งาน Facebook และ social network ของกลุ่มอายุต่างๆ ในสหรัฐ
Anderson แยกกลุ่มอายุโดยใช้ชื่อเรียก ดังนี้
- Gen Z = 13-14 ปี
- Gen Y = 15-29 ปี
- Gen X = 30-44 ปี
- Baby Boomer = 45-65 ปี (เกิดในยุคเบบี้บูม)
- WWII = 65 ปีขึ้นไป (ทันสงครามโลกครั้งที่สอง)
ผลการสำรวจอันแรกคือ การใช้ Social Network 4 ยี่ห้อ (Facebook/MySpace/Twitter/LinkedIn) ของแต่ละกลุ่มอายุ
พบว่า
- Gen Y/Z นิยมใช้ MySpace มากกว่า Facebook และใช้ Twitter/LinkedIn น้อยมาก
- LinkedIn สำหรับธุรกิจจริงๆ ดังนั้นนิยมในคนที่กำลังทำงานอยู่ (เด็กไปหรือแก่ไปจะไม่สนใจ)
- ยิ่งคนอายุเยอะ ยิ่งใช้ Facebook มากกว่า MySpace กลุ่มคนแก่ใช้ MySpace น้อยมาก
ผลการสำรวจที่สอง เหตุผลที่ใช้ Social Network ของแต่ละกลุ่มอายุ
- รุ่นเด็กนิยมใช้ social network เพื่อติดต่อกับเพื่อน และใช้เอามันส์เป็นหลัก
- ส่วนรุ่นใหญ่มักจะใช้ติดต่อกับคนในครอบครัวมากกว่ารุ่นเด็ก
- รุ่นใหญ่มักจะได้รับคำเชิญให้ใช้ social network จากคนอื่นๆ
- Gen Y/Z ซึ่งกำลังเรียนอยู่ ใช้ social network ติดต่อกับเพื่อนร่วมชั้นเรียนด้วย
- การใช้ social network เพื่อเหตุผลด้านการงาน อาชีพ ธุรกิจ ยังไม่เยอะนัก
- เหตุผลอันดับหนึ่งที่ใช้ social network คือติดต่อกับเพื่อนๆ ตามมาด้วย เอามันส์ และติดต่อกับครอบครัว
